Last weekend was Memorial Day, and normally, we’d be at the Lake House. It just gives me peace of mind that some little kid isn’t going to bump into me & cause my phone to take a dive! *Even though my phone is technically “water resistent”, whenever we’re in the water, I stick my phone in one of these waterproof cases. Our kids had a BLAST at Sandcastle! They talked a mile-a-minute the whole way home and for the rest of the day about how much fun they had! As we were leaving mid-afternoon, the people were continuing to pour in! The good news is though: since it isn’t a large park, a few hours was the perfect amount of time to feel like we did everything we wanted to do. The first hour we were there was pretty slow, but as the day wore on, the park got busier and busier. Since we visited on Memorial Day, we expected the park to get busy. We’ve never been there before to compare, but a lot of the park does seem like it was given some much needed TLC over the off-season. The Boardwalk area was just given a facelift and a lot of the slides seem freshly painted. The park doesn’t take up a large footprint, but it does a good job with the space it has. It isn’t big – in fact it feels just slightly larger than Idlewild‘s waterpark – maybe the same size as a Great Wolf Lodge waterpark. Sandcastle is a beautifully situated little waterpark, nestled right along the Monongahela River. Since we have Platinum season passes with Kennywood Park this year, admission into Sandcastle is included, so we figured it was high-time we checked our local waterpark out! I have lived in the Pittsburgh area for (almost) my entire life and I have NEVER been to Sandcastle, Pittsburgh’s “Hometown Waterpark”, until this past weekend!
